How we Compare

Price

We look at two things here — price per month at the one year price and if you get a free domain.  If you get a free domain they get another star, half if it is only for the first year.

Here is the break down of stars:

  • $1-$6 = 4 stars
  • $6-$11 = 3 stars
  • $11-$16 = 2 stars
  • $16+ = 1 star

Features

We looked at 4 of some of the most important features – Email, MySQL, Transfer, and Storage amounts.  We then took the average score for each of the four.

We gave any unlimited a 5 star and worked our way down from there.  The next highest would get 4 stars and we compared how the others would stack up against the 4 star and judged them on that.

Bonus

This is judged by free Adword money.  This is how it breaks down:

  • $200 = 5 stars
  • $150 = 4 stars
  • $100 = 3 stars
  • $75 = 2 stars
  • $50 = 1 star

 

Customer Service

This is somewhat judged on when we would call and ask questions or acted like we needed help with something.  Most companies were friendly and helpful so we took most of the score off the money back guarantee.  This way we judge the company and not just the person answering the phone at that moment.
